After Ralph made a good breakfast for the four of us, we drove up to the Superstition Mountains. Beautiful scenery! Bob got a cactus stuck on his knee. We stopped at Canyon Lake and Tortilla Flats. We listened to a great country band on the patio and then had lunch in the Superstition Saloon (saddles for bar stools and dollar bills on the wall).
We had dinner at Arizona Joe's and listened to a band. Another great day!

The four of us went to breakfast at Hacker's Restaurant. The Odermatts' were off to Tucson and New Mexico on their way home. It was good to see them again.

Apache Junction Jan. 18-24th

Jan. 18th

We drove 100 miles around the Apache Trail through the Superstition Mountains. Breathtaking! Beautiful scenery with three lakes, canyons and lots of cactus. We traveled 22 miles on a winding dirt road- sometimes very scary, taking us 1.75 hours. We came out on the east side of the Apache Trail at Roosevelt Dam. Worthwhile.
The Arizona Cardinals are in the Super Bowl for the first time(Feb.1) against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Windy 75 Deg. F.

Jan. 19th (Quartzsite)

We left at 6:30am and drove 2.5 hours west to Quartzsite (162 miles). The huge RV Show is on Jan. 17th to 25th. Thousands of RV's boondock (dry camping) on the desert. It is a site to behold!
We met up with John and Lynda Brooks at their campsite. We went to a free pancake breakfast and shopped at the displays in the big white tents. Some good bargains. We stopped for lunch and a beer at The Yacht Club restaurant/bar. After a good visit with the Brooks' we headed back to Golden Sun Resort, arriving about 7pm. Warm 80 Deg. F.

Jan.20th

We watched Barack Obama's inauguration on TV. We did some RV cleaning and grocery shopping and relaxed in the 78 Deg. sun.
We went to bingo at 7pm. Ralph's first bingo! We did not win but it was fun.

Jan 21st

We drove 1.5 hours to the Factory Outlets at Anthem, north of Phoenix. Beautiful shops and lots of bargains. I wish we had spent more time there.
The highways and overpasses are so well designed for all the traffic around Phoenix. The artwork is beautiful. We were told the population of Phoenix and surrounding cities is near ten million.
A warm 80 Deg. F. day.

Jan. 22nd

Cloudy but warm.Thea and I had a great day shopping at the Superstition Springs Mall. I bought some nice clothes at Christopher and Banks.
Ralph and Harry went to Walmart and played pool while we were gone.

Jan 23rd

Cloudy and raining. Thea (a seamstress) shortened two pairs of my new capris.
Rosemarie and Mike Davison came over for happy hour. Afterwards the four of us went to Arizona Joe's restaurant/bar. Good food and great entertainment and dancing. It was nice to visit with the Davison's.

Jan 24th

We did 3 loads of laundry. Cloudy in the morning and sunny 74 Deg. in the afternoon.

Jan. 16th

At 11am we went to the Organ Stop Pizza with over 100 people from Golden Sun RV Resort.
We had a pizza buffet and were entertained for two hours by an organist playing a 4 million $ Wurlitzer pipe organ(one of 4 in the US). Tasty pizza and great music.
Another beautiful sunny day 78 Deg.F. We booked for another month at Golden Sun RV Resort.
