South Padre Island,TX. Dec.1 & 2

Dec.1st

Our KOA campground is very nice but a bit expensive.
We crossed over the bridge and explored the town of Port Isobel on the mainland. We checked out another RV resort and did some shopping.
We were invited for happy hour at Doug and Darlene Letourneau's (Ontario, formally Leduc, AB) and Thomas and Diane Hughes(Ponoka AB) afer Doug saw our Alberta licence plate. Nice people. The six of us went to dinner--Marie shucked raw oysters with Doug. Great seafood! The two couples leave for Mexico tomorrow. We will keep in touch with them. Warm 75 deg.F.

Dec. 2nd

Warm but windy today. We drove to the end of the pavement on South Padre Island. We saw wind surfers, horseback riders and a few RV'ers camped on the beach. I walked over some of the sand dunes and dipped my toes in the Gulf of Mexico. Sand was drifting over the road--a plow was plowing sand, not snow.
After laundry and grocery shopping we relaxed around the pool. We went to the KOA happy hour 4-6pm.-- free hotdogs and entertainment. We met a nice couple from Saturna Island (off the coast of Vancouver).
We have enjoyed our short stay on South Padre Island and happy we have driven this far south. We are "on the road again" tomorrow to San Antonio.

We sure are enjoying your blog, sounds like you are having a great time. The pictures are beautiful and you guys look geat in them too. The weather where you are can't get any better compared to what we have right now. The weather here is sunny but cold,if it weren't for the wind it wouldn't be bad.Take care both of you God Bless Brian @ Shirley
